BtB1 - Be the Best

The Birth of “Be The Best” – our company ethos!

At its simplest our approach involves putting a constructive (and critical) lens over every aspect of the business and challenging ourselves (using leading industry benchmarks where available): Have we made this aspect of our business better than our competitors AND is this still good enough?

If the answer isn’t a resounding “Yes!” then we continue working on it, adapting it and improving it – relentlessly! When we think we’ve nailed it we enter a continuous loop of regular review and challenge over how we improve further.

teddy-blog The result – our ethos means that our customers know that they can buy with confidence and that they will always receive a high quality, premium product that they can depend on. Guaranteed!

Essentially it’s a Total Quality Management (TQM) system embracing the well established and widely understood principles of Kaizen, or continuous improvement.

A question of culture!

There are already MANY business articles about implementing TQM written by far greater business minds than me – so I’m keeping it deliberately simple. It is about our culture. What is important to us and essentially the way we do things around here.

If you truly want to be the best then you will be continuously horizon scanning to identify opportunities for improvement. Alas for us the ‘Be the Best’ quest is a little different to the adventure in our book. In the book there is an end. For us it’s about a continuous state of mind.

The articles that follow look at a number of key aspects of the business and look to share insights into what is involved in creating ‘Behind the Magic Door’. We hope you enjoy them and are very open to comparing notes (continuous learning!!).
